County General Turnback Appropriation

This is a very important issue to county government. Currently, counties receive an appropriation of $19.6 million per year in turnback. The revenue is divided 75% equally and 25% per capital, meaning that rural counties receive a larger share that is CRUCIAL to the provision of vital services such as law enforcement, elections and courts.

We need this particular appropriation, if not increased from $19.6 million, held at the current 2010 level of funding. We also need to ensure that this appropriation is a priority for the Legislature and that the funding falls within Category A of the Revenue Stabilization Law.

Please contact your Senator and Representative and urge them to support an increase in the County General Turnback Appropriation.
